Everline Resort & Spa, previously known as The Resort at Squaw Creek, is my top pick for renting a vacation property in Lake Tahoe. Located in the scenic Palisades Tahoe area, formerly Squaw Valley, this resort has been a favorite of mine since 2001. It’s perfect for couples, friends, and families looking to enjoy everything Lake Tahoe has to offer.
Lake Tahoe is about 205 miles from San Francisco and only 35 minutes from the Reno airport in Nevada. It’s famous for its excellent winter sports facilities, thanks to hosting the 1960 Winter Olympics. The Palisades area offers a massive ski area with over 4,000 acres of terrain and 270 trails, making it an ideal spot for both beginners and seasoned skiers. Despite its popularity, the resort is so spacious that you rarely have to wait long for a lift, even during peak holiday times.
If you’re more of a summer person, Lake Tahoe shines even brighter in the warmer months. I personally spend several weeks here during the summer and fall for a writing retreat, enjoying hiking on the numerous scenic trails around.
Everline Resort & Spa isn’t just a winter wonderland; it also offers luxurious amenities all year round. The resort boasts two swimming pools, a water slide, three hot tubs, a world-class restaurant, and a deli. For the active guests, there’s ski-in/ski-out access, a challenging golf course, and multiple hiking trails. The resort also features a top-notch spa and a well-equipped gym with steam and sauna rooms.
My two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo here is available for rent in several configurations to fit different group sizes. It features a king-sized bed, two queen-sized beds, a pull-out bed, a kitchenette, a dining area, a gas fireplace, three TVs, two desks, and three closets. Wi-Fi is included in the resort fee.
For those looking for the best time to rent, the quieter times with great deals are typically in April, May, September, October, early November, and early December before the holiday rush. Conversely, the peak seasons for winter sports are from December through April, and for enjoying the warm weather, from late May through October.
Lake Tahoe is not just a place I visit; it’s a part of my life. The experiences I’ve had at Everline Resort & Spa are invaluable, and I’m committed to keeping my properties here forever. Whether you’re looking for adventure or a peaceful retreat, this resort offers an unmatched mountain getaway.
