I’ve got some big news to share! I’ve been in discussions with some Netflix executives who are just a short drive from where I live in Los Gatos. I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be producing a new Netflix original series titled “Love Is Money!”

This idea popped into my head while I was relaxing in my hot tub, which is my go-to spot for brainstorming and unwinding. A friend of mine, whom I’ll call Sarah, shared with me during the pandemic that her feelings for her husband were fading as his company’s stock plummeted, jeopardizing their dream of buying a pricey home in the Bay Area for their expanding family.

That conversation made me realize that love might be more connected to financial stability than we’d like to admit. This sparked the concept for a new kind of relationship experiment, and yes, it will feature a diverse cast!

The Premise of “Love Is Money”

The show will feature 20 contestants of varying sexual orientations, aged 21 to 70, with net worths ranging from negative $700,000 to a whopping $100 million. We’ve thoroughly checked each contestant’s financial background and had them assessed by a panel for personality and physical attractiveness.

Contestant Dynamics

We’ve got two groups: “The Broke and Beautiful,” who are all stunning and highly personable but financially struggling, and “The Rich and Nasty,” who, despite their wealth, ranked low in charm and looks, often described with less-than-flattering terms.

What’s Happening in the Show

In a setup reminiscent of “Love Is Blind,” the contestants will date in separate pods, unseen by each other, with their net worths displayed for all to see. After several rounds of dates, they must choose whom they want to pair with, only seeing each other if they mutually pick one another.

The Experiment’s Twist

I’m curious to see if the less wealthy contestants will overlook the personality flaws of the richer ones, influenced by their fortunes. We’ll document their reactions when they meet face-to-face for the first time, which promises to be quite revealing!

Expect the Unexpected

True to reality show fashion, there will be twists. Maybe one of the wealthy contestants isn’t actually rich, or one of the financially struggling ones isn’t quite as broke as they appear.

Producing “Love Is Money” has been an incredibly engaging experience. It’s fascinating to explore whether the broke but beautiful will find genuine connections, or if the wealthy will leverage their assets to find companionship, confirming the old question: Is it love or money?

So, tune in to see how money influences romance in ways we might not expect!
