Everyone knows Capital One’s famous question, “What’s In Your Wallet?” So, I thought I’d take a peek into mine and share with you all for comparison.

I’m not a fan of bulky wallets—they’re a pain to sit on. My ideal wallet would be a digital copy of my driver’s license that can handle payments, act as an insurance and ID card, and cover all bases. But until that happens, I try to keep things simple.

Here’s what’s currently in my wallet:

– California driver’s license for both car and motorcycle, complete with the organ donor status.

– Library card, which impresses the ladies apparently, so it’s visible in the clear front pocket.

– Scuba Schools International diving certification card, checked off my bucket list this year.

– New York City MetroCard leftover from summer travels.

– Corporate card for business expenses to keep things tidy.

– Personal credit card for maximizing rewards.

– Cigna health care insurance card, plus a digital copy on my phone for safekeeping.

– Garage door access card for my tennis club, offering free parking after hours.

– Lake Tahoe resort owner’s card for a 10% food and drink discount.

– Lake Tahoe resort owner’s spending card, my annual allowance debit card.

– Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows snowboard season pass, though not so useful in Hawaii for the next four weeks!

– Guest passes for another swim & tennis club in SF, handy for spontaneous workouts and outdoor hot tub sessions.

– Five Financial Samurai business cards, just in case I meet someone in need of financial guidance.

– Car registration, with a spare in my glove compartment.

– $27 in cash, usually I carry $50 but I’m feeling light today.

– Four business receipts, collected throughout the week.

After this exercise, I realize my wallet is overloaded. Losing it is a major hassle—I’ve been through that before. Cancelling cards, getting replacements, and re-entering all those auto-pay accounts is a nightmare.
